June 2009, Max, Mom (Gina) and mom's friend Myriam, visited the one stop light town of Marfa, Texas. Mom was in town for work, and made a weekend out of the trip. Marfa is 3 hours from El Paso and near Alpine and Big Bend National Park. Marfa is known for their art galleries, expensive (but good) gourmet restaurants, rich East coast ranch owners, and the famous Marfa lights that appear in the middle of the desert for no known reason. We stayed at the famous El Paisano hotel, visited nearby Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatories. Not impressed yet? Marfa is also were the award winning movies "Giant" with Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean; "No Country for Old Men" with Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem; and "There will be Blood" with Daniel Day-Lewis. Now impressed?
