Our "summer break" is over... the Weber family newsblog is back! The family spent the whole summer working on our Olympic Bid... now we are free to concentrate on the family blog! (have fun going to the 2016 in what will technically be "winter" down there!)

Gina and Max also visited El Paso, Texas. On June 26, Gina was in town for work to kick off a project she created and developed for the EPA called "Eco Vida." Eco Vida is a binational project that brings together local stakeholders, television stations (local ABC and Telemundo), radio and newspaper to bring bilingual environmental information to the community along the U.S.-Mexico border. The program will bring media based messages on local environmental issues, events and things that people can do to better the environment. Gina was interviewed in Spanish by Telemundo to talk about her project. Max took the pictures, and behaved really well during my meetings. ALL PICTURES OF THIS TRIP AND THE ONE BELOW CAN BE FOUND BY USING THE LINK ON THE RIGHT (FAMILY PICTURES)
June 2009, Max, Mom (Gina) and mom's friend Myriam, visited the one stop light town of Marfa, Texas. Mom was in town for work, and made a weekend out of the trip. Marfa is 3 hours from El Paso and near Alpine and Big Bend National Park. Marfa is known for their art galleries, expensive (but good) gourmet restaurants, rich East coast ranch owners, and the famous Marfa lights that appear in the middle of the desert for no known reason. We stayed at the famous El Paisano hotel, visited nearby Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatories. Not impressed yet? Marfa is also were the award winning movies "Giant" with Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean; "No Country for Old Men" with Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem; and "There will be Blood" with Daniel Day-Lewis. Now impressed?

TRIP INTO SCIENCE 2009 & Harry Potter Visit
We met Aunt Gina, Max and Connor at the Museum of Science and Industry.
Everyone had a great time exploring and learning about microscopes, the earth,
how toys are made (a favorite in our group). The visit included a tour of the Harry Potter Traveling exhibit. All the great props and displays from the movies... although parts of it did scare the adults in the group! (mostly the price of admission was scary). It was a full day of exploring all the little corners of the place..
finished with a great dinner at Ed's with Uncle Victor and Aunt Alexandra... It was very hard to wake up the princess and get her going this morning for daycare... but worth it for the great weekend. p.s. It was our first full day for her out of Pull-ups or diapers... ... undies all the way with zero accidents... Yay!!! (more pictures from the day on the link on right side)
